 Workshop on teaching beginners functional Arabic : Issues and Challenges.

 Arabic language and literature form part of syllabi at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in some of our universities. Many of these universities have full fledged departments of Arabic where competent and experienced teachers are involved in the process of teaching. However, teaching Arabic to beginners continues to remain quite challenging for many of us. Similarly, learning how to learn the Arabic language is also another area which needs our immediate attention.

The main objective of the Workshop is to bring together teachers and learners of Arabic in Delhi on a single platform for exploring the best practices and seeking the ways and means for removing the shortcomings in Teaching and Learning Arabic to beginners. For this purpose, special arrangement would be made to ensure the participation of 30 selected Arabic learners enrolled in Universities of Delhi, Like JNU, Jamia, DU and IGNOU.
                                               
Keeping in mind the above objective, SOFL plans to hold two day workshop on 17th and 18th October (Saturday and Sunday) 2015.

Following are the sub themes of the workshop:
v  Learning how to learn Basic Arabic.
v  Learning how to teach Basic Arabic.
v  Discussion on teaching functional Arabic in ODL.
v  Discussion on the feedback of learners from different universities.
v  Discussion on the feedback of the teachers from different universities.
v   Evolving and testing the model lesson/Unit for Diploma in Functional Arabic.
