With India emerging as a major destination for `health tourists', numerous two to five-star general and specialist hospitals are mushrooming across the country.This has led to a rise in demand for professional health administrators who can efficiently manage hospitals and healthcare institutions. 

India's healthcare sector is estimated to touch $160 billion by 2017 due to factors such as rapid growth in good healthcare services, growth in incomes and greater health awareness. 

ICFAI University, Sikkim, offers a distance learning MBA in Hospital Administration with a focus on management, analysis and marketing of services and operations of hospital services. The twoyear programme is open to graduates from all streams. 

The distance learning mode offers a flexible schedule to students, most specifically working professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge. The course trains students in subjects like principles of management, communication and soft skills, organisational behaviour, business environment and law, marketing management, human resource management, IT and systems, project and operations management, business and legal environment of hospitals, hospital management and planning, population health and management of epidemics, hazard and disaster management, statistics for health management, business policy and strategy, international business, management control systems, leadership and change management, ethics and governance, etc. 

The course fee is set at Rs 65,000. Candidates are required to appear for quarterly computer-based examinations held four times a year.The pre-fixed examination schedule enables students to plan their work and other commitments around them.Once students pay their fees online, they receive an online admit card and have access to online examination results, mock tests, chat facility with university officials, examination schedule, updates on curriculum revision, etc.
