IGNOU, Kanshiram Varsity join hands to promote Urdu

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Kanshiram Urdu Arabic-Persian University will together start study centres in each district of UP to promote teaching of Urdu at certificate, diploma and degree levels. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between IGNOU, New Delhi and Urdu-Arabic and Persian University, Lucknow, was inked on April 1 ,2011 for cooperation in achieving the common goals of higher education, said an official release. IGNOU presently has enrolment of around 35 lakh students and is the largest university in the world offering more then 300 courses through open university and distance education mode. Kanshiram Urdu University was set up by the UP government in October 2009 to promote Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages and to enable the linguistic minorities to become employable by acquiring higher and need based education. Both the universities have agreed to offer joint degree, diploma and certificate programmes with particular emphasis on the promotion of Urdu, Arabic and Persian along with vocational and other important subjects. This will also include vocational and other courses run through Urdu medium as also through distance learning and online mode. Both universities will undertake and support staff training in the techniques and management, facilitate inter-institutional communication links, support evaluation and applied research.

India drafts agenda to spread IT literacy


According to the draft agenda,the government will make one person Information Technology (IT) literate in every household by 2020
New Delhi: The Government of India plans to make one person Information Technology (IT) literate in every household by 2020.
Giving details of the agenda of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) for 2013, IT and Communications Minister Kapil Sibal said that one IT literate person in 10 lakh households, is the target for the current year.
He said 18 specific agenda items have been identified for further promotion and development of domestic electronics and IT-enabled Services in the country during the year.
Sibal said the government will also notify the Cyber Security policy to set up an ecosystem for cyber security in the country.

IGNOU STUDY MATERIAL AVAILABLE FREE OF COST


Students now can view/download IGNOU Study Material free of cost from the University website (www.ignou.ac.in).
 
To View/Download IGNOU Study Material first register at http://www.egyankosh.ac.in/register .Select registration type and press and fill in the Registration Form. You will receive a mail containing a special URL. When you visit this URL, you will need to fill in some simple information. After that, you'll be ready to log into eGyanKosh.
 
Visit http://www.egyankosh.ac.in/password-login to login and access course material available on eGyanKosh.
 
The following steps may be used to view/download IGNOU study material.
 
a)  At search repository window (Top Left Corner) type Course Code or Course name or relevant Keyword for the content you are searching for and press
b)  Click on Course code/Course name to View/Download (under Community hits)
c)  Click on respective blocks
d)  Click on respective links (under List of Items)
e)   Click on ‘View/Open’ button to View/Download the Study Material
f)   The other option is to browse through the community list by clicking India in the Home Page.
 

Student Support Cell for Course Material


In order to help the needy students and resolve their queries related to non-receipt of study material and assignments, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Material Production and Distribution Division(MPDD) has established a Student  Support Cell (SSC) It attends to them through emails, telephones and speed post delivery. The email is mpdd@ignou.ac.in and telephone is  011-29572008.
 
The course material of IGNOU is also available on spot sale for the general public.
The sale of IGNOU course material has crossed Rs.2.96 crore per annum. This printed material which is popular among IAS & civil services aspirants, teachers of conventional Universities, correspondence institutions, is sold from the marketing cell of IGNOU and 15 retail agents throughout the country.
 
Prospective learners who are not interested to pursue any course in IGNOU but want to upgrade their knowledge can procure it from Marketing Cell of IGNOU Headquarters at Maidan Garhi or its retail agents.
 
The marketing cell also organises IGNOU’s participation in book fairs and exhibitions.
 
The MPDD also organizes bulk dispatch of Study Material to Regional Centres/Learner Support Centres/Partner Institutions in India.
