Ignou, Royal Society of Chemistry to hold lectures

Nagpur: As part of its annual flagship programme, The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), West India, and Ignou Nagpur regional centre will jointly organize various activities related to science for students on September 3 and 4. 
Ignou will be coordinating the activities and the events will be held in collaboration with the department of chemistry, Nagpur University, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) and Saraswati Vidyalaya.

This year, the activities are designed with a special focus on ‘Green sources of energy to reduce pollution’ and ‘Good science communication skills’ for UG and PG students of NU and its affiliated colleges. 

Professor Deepa Khushlani from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, will deliver a lecture on the topic on September 3 at chemistry department at 10.30am.




On September 4, two lectures will be given by chairperson of Science Popularization and Public Outreach at TIFR, Prof Arnab Bhattacharya. United Nations Organisation has declared 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table and to celebrate that Bhattacharya will speak on ‘Periodic table: Its elements, properties and respective reactions’. Students from Std X to PG (chemistry) can attend the lecture. 


The first lecture for students of Std X will be held at Saraswati Vidyalaya at 10am and will be coordinated by headmaster S Prabhuraman. The second lecture for PG students will be held at VNIT physics assembly hall. The afternoon session will be coordinated by Suresh Umare of VNIT chemistry department.
