IGNOU organised one day seminar on best practices in ODL at IGNOU

The Inter-University Consortium (IUC) of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized one day seminar on “Best Practices in ODL at IGNOU” at the convention hall on 4th January 2016. The Inauguration of the workshop was done by Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor IGNOU. The Chief Guest for the Workshop was Prof. Kailash Sodani, Vice Chancellor, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Rajasthan.

Director IUC Prof. Gayatri Kansal and Prof. S.C. Garg of IGNOU were also present at the inaugural session. Delivering the welcome address Prof. Kansal elaborated on the need of best practices in ODL system of IGNOU.

Prof. Kailash Sodani, Vice Chancellor, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer discussed the importance of Distance Education. He also said that “any kind of education can be effectively delivered through ODL.”

Addressing the inaugural session of seminar, Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU congratulated IUC for organsing this seminar. He said “IGNOU is a Brand. He emphasized that to maintain good standard of IGNOU, it is necessary that many good practices followed in the past should be improved to better and then to best using latest techniques.”

Prof. S.C. Garg of IGNOU Shared that ODL practices are good ideas, but it needs to be implemented to get result.

The seminar was intended to provide a platform for Schools/ Divisions/ Institutes/ Centers/ Cells/ Units of IGNOU to deliberate and share their existing Best Practices in ODL. This seminar gave an exposure to convert many practices followed at their work place into Best Practices. At the same time it helped to identify and adopt any best practice suitable to them with due customization.

The Seminar included four sessions with themes like Learner Support Services, Curriculum Design and Development, Outreach and Inclusivity and other Areas.
