MOC Between IGNOU and National Health Mission, Haryana

A Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) has been signed between Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and National Health Mission, Govt. of Haryana whereby Health functionaries of the State of Haryana (covering 21 districts) shall be trained in phases by using interactive Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood illness (IMNCI) package of IGNOU.

IMNCI is a multi-media training programme of 7 days duration to upgrade the skills of various health functionaries. The National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE) and School of Health Science of IGNOU has designed and developed this package, with assistance from UNICEF.

This package will provide training to medical practionners to manage sick children rationally and is designed to allow users to work at their own pace. Each segment of the package has structured components description, images, videos, learning opportunities and self assessment exercises. The package provides flexibility to navigate between segments for any review or recall during the learning. The learners can also refer to a chart book, whenever required. Trainees can also obtain information and update or revise skills whenever required.
Each trainee has the same level of participation in the learning process. Participation is active and onus of learning is on the trainees themselves. Like most of the self-paced learning courses, the programme allows the participants to begin and end a segment of the training course at any time, and provide efficient use of training time and resources.
Learning activities are organized sequentially and have objectives that needs to be met, before proceeding to the next component of the package.
A tool for follow up of the training programme and feedback is another merit of this programme.
