Programmes of IGNOU in area of Information Security


The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) School of Vocational Education and Training (SOVET) opens avenues of income generation through skill development of individuals by inviting applications for admission in Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security (PGDIS) and Advanced Certificate in Information Security (ACISE) for July 2013 session.
These programmes have been designed to bridge the gap in the awareness and competency required by various categories of people as the users of internet and various IT enabled services about deeper aspects of information security, its responsible use and management of IT services.
PGDIS, one year programme, aims at spreading awareness of information security and protection, provide protection and security to personal data, build data oriented infrastructure in the companies, raises high professional ethics in the individuals and students towards providing information security and enables them to experiment and learn the skills and techniques required for providing protection and security to the information.
The eligibility for PGDIS is B.Sc (Computer Science)/ BCA / B.Tech (Computer Science)/ B.Tech (IT) or its equivalent. Students withBachelor Degree in any discipline or its equivalent from a recognized University/ Institute with CIT/CIC/ACISE/CISE from IGNOU or a Certificate in Computer Science/Computer Application from a Govt. recognized institute with a minimum duration of 6 months or studied Computer Course as part of the curriculum in Bachelor/PG Degree or a bachelorⳠdegree with one year working experience in Computer application/ IT will also be considered eligible for the programme.
ACISE is a six months programme for 10th pass students or its equivalent, emphasizing on user security awareness and needs. The programme aids the learner to secure one own desktop, data, connectivity, browsing, internet transaction, imparts world wide web consortium compliance, cyber forensics etc.
