5 lakh internships for engineering students

JAIPUR: In a bid to revive technical education, Engineerng Council of India (ECI), a body under AICTE will provide 5 lakh internships to engineeringstudents in the coming years, said MP Poonia, vice-chairman, AICTE. Poonia, who was in Jaipur to attend an educational programme on Sunday, said that AICTE has taken slew of measures to fish out the engineering and management colleges from the slowdown. Poonia said that AICTE has collaborated with several industries for the internship programme.

“These internships will provide students a platform which will give them industry experience. This experience is required for them to become employable,” said Poonia. The institutes have signed an MoU with the ECI for entering into ECI internship programme. These internships are available in all sectors for students. The move is one among several moves to make engineering students employable. Minister of state for HRD, Satya Pal Singh, also said that HRD ministry is at wits’ end to improve the technical education scenario in the state.

Australia's Macquarie University introduces cyber security programme

Macquarie University Australia is introducing master’s in cyber security. This will be an interdisciplinary course between the faculty of business, science, and art.

The course will provide a holistic view on cybersecurity. Students can choose Master’s in any one of three fields. The science faculty will teach coding and protection, business division will share the managerial and economic aspects and those in arts will learn about training the stakeholders involved and also about the psyche of the cybercriminals.

The amalgamation of the three will help the learners to be ahead of breaches. The admissions to the programme will begin in July 2018.
